I’ve got in on my blog too (on the sidebar.) Solidarity. But really, can you believe this is actually being considered? I am almost too stunned to talk about it. NO NO NOOOOO!!!
It makes me come over all Captain Haddock from Tintin ‘Baboons! Baby-snatchers! Bagpipers! Bald-headed budgerigars! Bandits! Bashi-bazouks! Billions of blue blistering boiled and barbecued barnacles, Black Marketers!’ Thanks for spreading the word BlueBee 🙂
😀 love Captain Haddock’s inventive invective.
Thanks for highlighting this, Gabe. I didn’t even know about it until your post and am absolutely gobsmacked that these leases would be awarded before the completion of the environmental studies and a very close examination of what’s happening in Gladstone.
(If you read my earlier reply to your comment here, you would think me quite mad, Monica. If you didn’t that is good 🙂 I thought WP had published my unpublished drafts!)
Yes, these things are slipping under the radar and one of the country’s most beautiful reserves is to be ruined for things we don’t need. Carbon tax on the one hand and plunder the earth for more fossil fuels on the other – it boggles the mind. Thanks for your comment.
No No No … and we will keep on saying it!
It just boggles the mind, Christine

I can’t, Selma – it’s beyond criminal
As I said to Gabrielle this is most upsetting. 😦
It’s appalling, Charles, and well under way in Gladstone already.
Here’s hoping that sanity prevails to preserve the reef for ALL of us.
Yes, Nancy – trashing the GBR to create more fossil fuels is pure insanity

Thanks for sharing this… 😦
This is a great post, Bluebee. Insanity likes to cloak itself in secrecy, so the more discussion about this the better.

You have made me very curious, bluebee.
