“Breakfast tomorrow?”
“Yes.
“Our little weekend rituals
make me happy,
secure.
And prevent me from running
from the planet, screaming.”
OK, maybe I didn’t articulate that last line, hehe.

This week’s photo challenge theme is one I’ve participated in previously, so I’m giving it a miss. Instead, in response to this question from Elizabeth over at Mirth and Motivation, I’m posting my Mondegreen poem, which I wrote for Gabrielle Bryden’s Citrus Fiesta some time ago.
I thought it really quite absurd
(and way too weird) when I heard
the 70s band Hot Chocolate sing
about the very strangest thing –
wild lemony love in Cadillacs,
the joys of lemons in the sack!
One day it dawned it wasn’t ‘lemons‘
of which they sung, but rather ‘heaven’s‘
and so the song proved less obscene,
and my mishearing, a Mondegreen 😯
I’m taking a break from blogging for a while.
Happy blogging
😀
And hope to see you on the other side.
This was today – catching up on university stuff – which I enjoyed, but it doesn’t make for a terribly exciting photo subject.
Never mind – it’s nearly champagne o’clock Downunder, and tomorrow’s another holiday (and golf). 😀

I particularly enjoyed these five:
Five favourites from this week:
Our quotidian rituals
bring discipline,
structure
and joy
to our hours;
they are the anchors
of our existence.

Look, a little butcherbird!
He’s so tame.
Aww, isn’t he sweet?
mmmm…perhaps not…

A few from out and about on Sydney Harbour

Sultry African nights,
we’d drink Dutch,
play Chinese,
smoke American,
talk Japanese,
(the odd bit of French thrown in)
Brightly hungover days,
we’d work,
with throwback English stoicism
Have been a bit snowed under this week, so haven’t written any poetry, nor read any blogs – have a lot of catching up to do this weekend…
In the meantime, here’s my contribution to this week’s photo challenge: different views looking up at the Sydney Opera House that I took a while ago with that archaic thing known as a film SLR 🙂

I’ve used the (damaged) photo below before for my poem Sometimes which I posted back in May but which fits in quite nicely with the ‘Up’ theme, too
Happy weekends, Fellow Bloggers 🙂
it’s a beautiful day for a boat show
to play tourist and reflect on the harbour
